Pontius was b. 3 April 1858. Mahala E. Pontius was born July 9, 1840 at
Circleville Ohio. Married to Rev. G. W. Van Vickle Jan 1, 1874. Moved with her
husband and one child to Kansas in 1878. She became a Christian and united with
United Brethren Church when a girl. On coming to Kansas she united with the M.
E. Church of which she remained a consistent member. Died Jan. 9, 1925. (William
Pontius was next to the youngest child of Benjamin G. Pontius and Martha Griest
